The "Wolverine Way" for Face to Face and Remote Learning Wolverines
We hope that you and your families are safe and continuing to operate safely and successfully during the early days of November. As we enter into the sixth week of operations after Phase II and III of our Return to School Hybrid Instructional experience, we have had some time to reflect, adjust, and communicate some coming amendments to our operations for the foreseeable future at Union Grove Middle School.
This week (November 9-13), administrators will be speaking with both Face to Face and Remote Learners about the "Wolverine Way" for the 2020-2021 school year. Parents and Students will be provided with a copy of the Remote and Face to Face Wolverine Way, which contains many areas that are similar in language and expectations, while also providing some differentiated expectations based on the student's modality and the unique challenges that are presented in learning in either environment.
A copy of the Face to Face Expectations will be coming home on a yellow piece of paper following the in-class conversations this week. Specifically, these conversations will occur on the following days and teams:
Monday - Team 6-1, 7-1, and Ford and Haynes 8-1 IF Groups
Tuesday - Team 6-2, 7-2, and Smith and Stevens' 8-1 IF Groups
Thursday - Team 6-3, 7-3, and Jefferson and Clay's 8-3 IF Groups
Friday - Team 8-2 and Nealis and Kraus's 8-3 IF Groups
Copies of the Face to Face and Remote Wolverine Ways can be found below, if you would like to go ahead and review and sign off on these forms ahead of time. For Remote Learners, we have an electronic sign off Form that you can complete rather than returning a printed copy to the school. Please be sure to sign off on these items for record keeping and to communicate that you have reviewed the UGMS Wolverine Way, as well as the Henry County School's Remote Learning Expectations and K-12 Handbook when you have a chance to access these documents.
Also, be on the lookout for "Instructional Week Ahead" documents that will be sent to our parents each week on Friday afternoons. These documents contain information about the week's learning objectives and activities, along with what items are due, and when. These are the same documents that are shared with students in their Google Classrooms, as they are presented with an advanced notice of these elements and when they are due each week. Please review these with your child if they are currently having academic difficulties with their current or previous grades, as they are vital in helping our students stay on top of deadlines and due dates to promote their success in either the Remote or Face to Face learning modality.
We hope that you have a great week ahead, and we look forward to the continued success of our Wolverine students, wherever they may be learning from in the months to come.
