HCS Set to Host 3rd Annual World Languages Fair

Middle and high school students to showcase multicultural skills

HENRY COUNTY, GA – The Henry County Schools World Languages Department is set to give students and community members a glimpse of cultures from foreign countries this weekend with the return of its World Languages Fair.

This will be the third annual fair the department has hosted, and each year the event has grown in scope and participation. Community members and students are encouraged to attend on Saturday, March 18 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Stockbridge High School. The school is located at 1151 Old Conyers Road.

The fair provides for an annual gathering of middle and high school students from all across Henry County who are interested and focused on various foreign cultures. Through numerous events, these students are able to display their language and cultural skills in Spanish, French, and German by competing and showcasing their knowledge. Each of the following categories allows for a focus on global competency:

  • Talent Show – highlighting dancing, singing, poetry recitation, and traditional costumes

  • Film – entries include documentaries, short films, and interviews

  • Art – displays of paintings, collages, piñatas, drawings, and dioramas

  • Vocabulary Bee

  • Academic/Culture Bowl

  • Mini- World Cup – a 3-on-3 International Soccer Contest

Henry County Schools is a great supporter of cultural diversity and opportunities for learners from various heritages and differing ethnicities.  The World Languages Fair is another example of an event allowing further exposure of world cultures for our overall student population.

According to event organizers, they are looking forward to a grand event for students, teachers, and members of the community.
