Leadership Listens

HCS Central Office Goes on “Leadership Listens” Tour

Open house-style meetings held across county starting April 30

HENRY COUNTY, GA – Getting down to the Henry County Schools Central Office can prove a tough task sometimes for people when they would like to meet with district administrators and leaders.  The topic or reason for needing a meeting can be specific or general in nature, but sometimes citizens just do not have the time or know the best way to reach out to school district leaders.

In an effort to assist, Henry County Schools’ leaders are starting “Leadership Listens,” a bimonthly meeting aimed at providing another opportunity for community members to meet and discuss issues of interest in a personal, one-on-one setting.  The open house, drop-in design enables citizens wishing to meet leaders from all four central office departments – Administrative Services, Financial Services, Human Resource Services, and Learning and Leadership Services – the opportunity to come and go at their leisure and convenience.  There are no presentations designed for this event.  It is truly a chance for individual citizens to introduce themselves to district leaders and share thoughts or ideas on the school system.

“We know that it is not always conducive for people to take time out of their work day to come meet and speak with myself or others at our offices,” said Superintendent Rodney Bowler.  “We want to have an informal opportunity for anyone across the county to come say hello and share thoughts or ideas on issues they feel are important.”

In addition to central office administrators, principals from the host school and surrounding cluster schools and Board of Education members will be in present to visit with attendees.

The first “Leadership Listens” meeting will be in District 5 on Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Stockbridge High School.  Stockbridge High School is located at 1151 Old Conyers Road.  District 5 Board of Education Member Annette Edwards will be on hand to meet with community members, too.  All citizens from across Henry County are welcome to attend this meeting or subsequent meetings in the coming months.

Meetings taking place over the next several months in the remaining districts and locations are as follows:

  • District 4 – Tuesday, July 28, 2015 – 6-8 p.m. – Eagle’s Landing High School
  • District 3 – Thursday, September 17, 2015 – 6-8 p.m. – Henry County High School
  • District 2 – Thursday, November 19, 2015 – 6.8 p.m. – Dutchtown High School
  • District 1 -  Thursday, January 28, 2016 – 6-8 p.m. – Locust Grove High School
