    Dear Parents and Guardians:

    Welcome to an exciting 2016-2017 school year at Walnut Creek Elementary School!  We would like to take the time to welcome all our new students, parents and staff to our Walnut Creek school family. We are glad you are here! Also, special thanks goes out to those parents who have already made a great effort to become involved by attending open house. We look forward to seeing you at many of our upcoming events.

     The administration and staff is thrilled that you have entrusted your children’s education to us. We will make every effort to help your child achieve academically and socially this year. It is our goal to create an enriched learning environment that engages each student. Walnut Creek Elementary has an excellent teaching staff with a wealth of knowledge. We also have an outstanding support staff who works in different capacities to support your child’s learning.

     Also, we want to inform you that Walnut Creek is open to receive students at 7:15 am each morning. Our schedule is from 7:45 am to 2:25 pm (students should plan on arriving no earlier than 7:l5 am). Breakfast begins at 7:15 am sharp.  In order for students not to be counted tardy they need to be in their classrooms ready to begin class by 7:45 am each morning. Students entering the building at 7:45 am or later will be considered tardy and must be accompanied by a parent.

    Mrs. Darlene Minshew is our Parent Involvement Professional.  Mrs. Minshew is here to assist with connecting you to a variety of community resources, training, and helpful curriculum advice if needed. We believe in keeping parents informed about opportunities for involvement at WCE. Mrs. Minshew will be keeping in touch with you through email, the website and phone tree calls to let you know what is happening at our school.

    Finally, if your child needs additional support or if you have a concern, please do not hesitate to contact his/her teacher. It is our mission to support your child in whatever way we can. Walnut Creek Elementary School is fortunate to have the resources that support students and their families. Working together makes a difference in the lives of our students.  We also want to let you know that the school administration has an open door policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our school personnel will be happy to help you. We anticipate and look forward to your continued support during this academic year. Together, we shall provide the best education for all our students.
