    Dear Parents and Guardians,

My name is Val Proveaux and I will be your child's teacher for 8th Grade Math, Algebra or Geometry this school year. Mathematics is extremely important and I am committed to helping each one of my students develop an understanding, respect and appreciation for mathematical concepts.  Math is not only an important school subject, but more particularly an important subject for life.  Therefore, I will ensure that I present math practically and with application to real world situations.

In order to ensure that your student does well in class, please be sure that he/she comes prepared each and every day.  As you will find out, homework assignments are given almost every night in the form of review and practice.  Although the assignments will not be graded, the mastery checks will be graded as an assessment.  Therefore, time, interest and commitment must be given to all homework assignments. All of my students are required to complete and present unit projects. These projects will also be graded.  My students will be quizzed and tested regularly to ensure they are understanding the concepts and the skills that are being taught.  I am always available to them for extra help and have listed my office hours for them conveniently on this webpage.

Please feel free to use my website which will give you information about this class.  You can also contact me by email or phone if that is more convenient.  My goal is to provide your child with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that he/she needs to be successful this school year.

I am looking forward to working with you and your student this school year.  I would ask your cooperation so that your child will come prepared to class and ready to learn each day.  I have high expectations for each of my students and will hold them accountable to do their best and to be their best at all times.

If your child is giving time, commitment and dedication to his/her studies, he or she will succeed and we will enjoy a productive year ahead.  Let’s work together to ensure that math/success are synonymous.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Val Proveaux
