Many years ago, Arts Alive was created by our assistant principal, Dr. Barber, and our music teacher, Miss Flournoy. This event is an annual tradition and one that led to our charter movement. After seeing a decline in test scores, we began to search for ways to reach our students in a non-traditional manner. We began to offer students a class of their choice one day a week. This class could be from art, music, or PE. Scores skyrocketed. We then realized that we needed to expand our offerings for our students. We looked closely at STEM and knew that we had to integrate Art into our offerings. Our students again thrived! STEAM became our focus and the backbone for our charter.
