Team Practices: Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 until 7:00  at the Excel Academy gymnasium near the board of education.

Overview:  Every school in Henry County has developed a Competitive Gymnastics team.  The 2013-2014 school year was its inaugural year and it was a great success! This will be our 6th year with the sport being offered at Luella High School for all girls in grades 9-12.  The county purchased brand new equipment last year for all schools to use for practices and home meets.  This is a shared space so our practice time is limited and strictly enforced.

This is a competitive gymnastics team, not a gymnastics class, and they will be competing in all 4 events:  uneven parallel bars, beam, floor exercise, and vault.  Luella will be competing against other schools in the county as well as other schools in the state.  We will have 3 home meets, one away meet, and finally a County Championship.  If any gymnast qualifies for state during the regular season then they will continue to practice to prepare for the state qualifying round which is in April.

Estimated Cost:  The fees for gymnastics will be between $25 and $200

Athletic Fee ($40): You are exempt if you have already participated in a sport at LHS this year

Leo shorts ($15): Same as last year

Warm Up ($50-$75): Same as last year

Judges Fee ($25):  Mandatory for all gymnasts

Optional additional items such as bag, grips, etc…purchase on your own

Experience: If you are interested in trying out for the gymnastics team experience is encouraged but not required.  This is a competitive team, not a gymnastics class, but gymnasts will be taught new skills on all 4 events.

Making the team:  The team will be limited to a Varsity squad of no more than 8 members.  Our first practice date of Janurary 7th will be used to determine who will be on the team.
