Hello and welcome to 8th Grade Georgia Studies. My name is Mr. Barfield and I am thrilled to be teaching Social Studies here at Ola Middle School. I have a passion for teaching especially History. I previously taught in Jones County and Baldwin County. This is my 6th year working with middle school students and my 5th year teaching Georgia Studies. I am certified to teach 6th-12th grade American History, World History, and Political Science.

I wear many hats here at Ola. This year I am sponsoring the BETA club and the National History Day Project Sponsor.

To help students study I can provide my PowerPoints and some other helpful resources for each of these Georgia Studies Units. Find the unit you wish to learn more about and click on it on the sidebar. Remember here at Ola Middle School we teach to the Georgia Standards of Excellence. If you would like a preview of the year ahead you can look at these standards to see what elements in Georgia Studies we will be learning about and what you will be expected to understand.

If your student is struggling with the material they can come to after school tutoring. I will be free for tutoring on Mondays after school from 4:30-5:30. If these days do not work with your schedule please contact me using my email. I can adjust my schedule if contact is made in advance. Make sure that your student has an after school parent permission form and has a ride waiting for them before 5:30.
