My name is Matt Tyler and I am honored to teach here at Eagle's Landing High School and serve as the Social Studies Department Chair.  This year will be my 13th year teaching and my sixth year teaching at ELHS.  Prior to my time here I taught at Mt. Zion High School, Eagle's Landing Christian Academy and Forest Park High School.  I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in History and Political Science from Shorter College in Rome, Georgia and a Masters of Divinity Degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.  Aside from teaching I have held jobs in the private sector working for such companies as Gamestop, Inc., Walmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Chick-fil-a.  As an educator, my goal is to strive to not only instill a lifelong love for learning but to also prepare students with life skills that will benefit them in the corporate and retail workplace.

My goal in life is to continue to learn new things and to challenge myself and my students.  One of my favorite quotes is, "The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do," by Steve Jobs.  I think this quote speaks to the idea that we as individuals need to be constantly challenging ourselves to go beyond what we think our capacity to achieve might be and stretch our ability and our imagination.  This is my challenge and my hope for the students I teach.

I look forward to a great year.
