RCE Family, I want to warmly welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year!  At Rocky Creek, we are deeply committed to sustaining the positive school culture and high performing learning environment for which Rocky Creek has become known. Our renewed vision is to strive to be a school of excellence where stakeholders work together to prepare students to live, work, and thrive in a global society. It will continue to be our goal to work with all stakeholders in order to ensure that this vision becomes a reality.

I have spent over sixteen years working in the field of education. I graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education.  I also have obtained a Master’s Degree in Post-Secondary Education from Troy University and an Education Specialist Degree from Valdosta State University in Educational Leadership. I transitioned to Henry County Schools in 2014 as a fourth grade teacher.  Prior to that, I was an Academic Coach in Bibb County for three years.  While in Bibb County, I was  a fifth grade, third grade, and second grade classroom teacher. I was the assistant principal of Rocky Creek for four years before becoming principal in 2019.

Teamwork and open communication are very vital in ensuring a positive and productive learning environment for our students. This year, our school theme is, "Together We Will." More than ever before, all stakeholders (parents, students, teachers, staff members, and the community) will need to come together to embrace the challenges of the future.  Our remarkable staff, involved parents, and committed students have always been what makes Rocky Creek such a wonderful, unique place and I look forward to continuing to foster these relationships.

One of the phrases that I have held on to came from Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis. She stated, “We will have imperfect answers for an imperfect situation.” I agree with this whole-heartedly. We are moving through uncharted waters, but TOGETHER we will weather this storm! Our pledge is as follows:

    TOGETHER we will…

    1. begin the process of making school as normal as possible.
    2. continue to build relationships with parents, teachers, and administrators.
    3. remember we are here for the children.
    4. focus on increasing student achievement.
    5. continue to build self-esteem and self-motivation in children.
    6. engage our students on a daily basis.
    7. create solutions to problems.
    8. support everyone in this school.
    9. continue to be EXTRA and do EXTRA because mediocracy is not the RACER way!

We are committed to the challenge and we hope you will join us! We are committing to going beyond the extra mile this year. We will SET the standard; not follow one! We are so excited about this year and although it may prove to be one for the record books, we anticipate only success (academically, behaviorally, and socially).
