    I also serve as the Social Studies Department Chair. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, a Master's Degee in Public Administration, and a Master's Degree in Social Science Education - all from the University of Georgia. I hold a Specialist in Education degree in Teacher Leadership from Piedmont College and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the same institution. My dissertation focused on the successful use of primary sources in the secondary world and American history classrooms.  I am particularly interested in student cognition, writing as a form of assessment, understanding by design instructional planning, and historical inquiry.

    Welcome Message- Welcome to the Social Studies Department of Dutchtown High School. We endeavor to meet the goals of producing informed and educated members of the citizenry.

    The summer assignment for both AP Psychology and AP U.S. History will be due on August 8, 2019 but please know that we will work on it during class time the first week of school Please contact me by email at dboyum@henry.k12.ga.us  if you have any questions   I will be checking my email daily throughout the summer.
     
    Requested school supplies for Advanced Placement Psychology, Advanced Placement U.S. History, and Honors U.S. History students for the 2019-2020 school year:
    1. a 1-2" binder and looseleaf paper specifically for the course
    2. pen/pencils
    3. a folder for upcoming assignments
    4. a set of colored pencils (U.S. History classes only)
    5. a composition notebook (for class notes)
