I also serve as the Social Studies Department Chair. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, a Master's Degee in Public Administration, and a Master's Degree in Social Science Education - all from the University of Georgia. I hold a Specialist in Education degree in Teacher Leadership from Piedmont College and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the same institution. My dissertation focused on the successful use of primary sources in the secondary world and American history classrooms. I am particularly interested in student cognition, writing as a form of assessment, understanding by design instructional planning, and historical inquiry.

1. a 1-2" binder and looseleaf paper specifically for the course
3. a folder for upcoming assignments
4. a set of colored pencils (U.S. History classes only)
5. a composition notebook (for class notes)

AP review for AP U.S. History and AP Psychology will begin in Apri 2020 upon our return from spring break. AP Psychology review will be from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. on Mondays and AP U.S. History review will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Students will be provided review handouts and units and concepts will be revisited. Students will also take a mock exam to assist in preparing for the AP U.S. History exam on Friday, May 8, 2020, and the AP Psychology exam on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
