Greetings Hickory Flat Charter Elementary Community,
My name is Dr. Marla Surette and I am the proud Principal of Hickory Flat Charter Elementary. As the first conversion charter elementary school in Henry County, Hickory Flat Elementary was a great school that didn’t settle for being ‘status quo’. It became even greater by designing a charter to provide innovative learning and teaching opportunities to students, faculty and staff that are rooted in Multiple Intelligence (MI) Theory. My goal is to continue to develop these worthwhile and practical practices, enhance this great school, and increase the opportunities offered so that even greater success is achieved. I will dedicate my efforts to shaping a vision of academic success for students by creating a climate of high expectations that provides outstanding educational experiences, promotes parental involvement, and cultivates leadership to equip students to meet the challenges of their future.
It is clear that our stakeholders (students, parents, family members, faculty, staff, partners, and community members) are proud to be associated with Hickory Flat Charter Elementary. It is a school that has established a tradition of educating children in methods they most understand; recognizing that intelligence is not singular, that students are one-of-a-kind individuals with unique strengths, weaknesses, aptitudes, interests and capabilities. This year we are excited to be exploring and expanding our flexibility options within Henry County's Personalized Learning Framework. For more information on Personalized Learning, please visit this link https://schoolwires.henry.k12.ga.us/site/Default.aspx?PageID=60175. Working together with our dedicated faculty, staff, Governance Council and wonderful family members of Hickory Flat Charter Elementary; we will continue to provide an excellent educational program.
I anticipate another successful year as we collaboratively work to inspire, nurture, challenge, and prepare students for their own success. Your praises, suggestions, questions or concerns are always welcome!
Dr. Marla Surette
