This school year begins my 26th year in education. Twenty-four of those years have been in Henry County Schools. I spent ten years as a classroom teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels and eight years as an assistant principal at the elementary level. This is my eighth year serving as the principal of East Lake Elementary. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Middle Grade Education, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and additional certifications in Elementary Education and Educational Leadership. I adore children and work hard each day to provide students with a positive learning environment with high learning expectations for students of all abilities.  

My primary goal as principal of East Lake Elementary is to provide leadership that will facilitate a strong connection between families and school as well as provide the necessary skills for students to become productive citizens in a vastly changing society. I believe teachers, parents and administrators all share the vitally important responsibility of guiding, nurturing and encouraging our children to become engaged and active learners. This is accomplished by establishing an academically challenging collaborative learning environment where expectations are high and learning is paramount. Children enter our school building with differing backgrounds and life experiences that make them unique individuals. Educators must meet students where they are and provide the necessary instruction and guidance for each student to reach his or her potential.
