I am excited to be teaching gifted and 4th  grade accelerated math this school year. I have been busy planning units that will allow students to explore and investigate through interdisciplinary units that will help to build critical thinking and problem solving skills.  There will be lots of opportunities to collaborate with classmates as well as to build other 21st century skills.

    A little about me...

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am very proud to be at Rock Spring Elementary again this year, and I am anticipating a wonderful year with you and your child.

I graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with an ESOL endorsement and earned my Masters of Science in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University.  I added my Gifted Endorsement in April of 2014. I have previously taught 2nd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade. I am certified to teacher elementary, most middle school subjects, and math from elementary through high school.  I am excited to be teaching gifted again this year and to be teaching accelerated math to 4th and 5th grade students. I am looking forward to seeing your child achieve more than he/she ever dreamed possible!

I am married with two children. My husband, Ed Griffis, teaches 6th grade math at Ola Middle School. We have two sons. Ethan and Evan.  Ethan attends Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, and Evan graduated last year and will be attending GSU at Newton.

I truly believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher-student relationship. I will send regular newsletters via email and will have information on my webpage.

Please feel free to contact me as any questions or concerns may arise. You may call me at the school 770-957-6851 or email me at sgriffis@henry.k12.ga.us. I check this periodically during the day and evening hours. Therefore, this is often this best way to get a message to me.
