Degrees and Certifications:
Let me welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year! My name is Lauren McLain and I am the Severe/Profound Intellectual Disability (SID/PID) teacher. There will also be an awesome parapro in our class, Michelle Notabartolo. I feel extremely blessed to have her in our class! I am very excited about being your child’s teacher this year! Positive relationships with my students and their parents is very important to me. I believe that good communication is key in helping to build these relationships. I look forward to having a fantastic year with you and your child!
Let me tell you a little about our class…
Our class is truly unique and it is only fitting that we use the Unique Learning Adapted Curriculum in our class. We also participate in Community Based Instruction trips twice a month and we compete in Special Olympics events throughout the year. We have many visitors in our room; Special Education nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and Speech Therapists to name a few. We work really hard and play really hard too!
Let me tell you a little more about myself…
This will be my 13th year teaching special education. I previously taught special needs pre-k, interrelated, and resource. I graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education.
I am married to my husband Kenneth. We have known each other since we sat next to each other in our first grade class. We have two sons and a daughter ( Noah 10, William 4 and Lily 3). Noah will be 5th grade at NHE. We also have a black lab named Bear Bear and a cat named Bella.
Let me tell you a little more about Michelle…
Michelle Notabartolo is married and has three children. One of her children is a student here at NHE. Ava is in 9th grade, Aiden is in 7th grade, and Ian is in 4th.This is Michelle’s 5th year as a SID/PID para she was formerly a substitute teacher at NHE, an officer in the NHE PTO, and before beginning her work in the school system, Michelle worked with special needs adults.
We both love working in the SID/PID class. We truly enjoy coming to work each and every day! We love to sing and dance and make the students in our classroom happy and comfortable.
