Dear Parents,

            Let me welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year! My name is Lauren McLain and I am the Severe/Profound Intellectual Disability (SID/PID) virtual teacher. There will also be an awesome virtual parapro in our class, Brittany Workman. I feel extremely blessed to have her in our class!  I am very excited about being your child’s teacher this year!  Positive relationships with my students and their parents is very important to me. I believe that good communication is key in helping to build these relationships. I look forward to having a fantastic year with you and your child!

Let me tell you a little about our class…

Our class is truly unique and it is only fitting that we use the Unique Learning Adapted Curriculum. We have many visitors in our room; Special Education nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and Speech Therapists to name a few. We work really hard! 

 Let me tell you a little more about myself…

This will be my 14th year teaching special education. I previously taught special needs pre-k,  interrelated, and resource. I have taught SID/PID for 4our years. I graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education.

I am married to my husband Kenneth. We have known each other since we sat next to each other in our first grade class. We have two sons and a daughter ( Noah 11, William 5  and Lily 4). Noah will be 6th grade at Ola Middle. William will be in Kindergarten ELE and Lily is in Pre-K. We also have a black lab named Bear Bear, a German Shepard names T-Rex (Rex for short)  and a cat named Bella.

Let me tell you a little more about Brittany…

 Brittany is married to an Army Veteran and they have two children. Aiden is 9 and an ELE Eagle. Adalyn is 4 and in Pre-K. They have three dogs and foster with a local rescue. This is Brittany’s second year as a SID/PID paraprofessional. Brittany loves spending time with her family, the beach, being outdoors, reading, horseback riding and sports- hockey (Go Sabres) and soccer (Atl United)!

We both love working in the SID/PID class. We truly enjoy coming to work each and every day! We love to sing and dance and make the students in our classroom happy and comfortable.
