americans-named-rhodes-scholars-for-2014ELHS Program InformationThe mock trial team at Eagle's Landing High School is made up of students in grades 9-12 interested in learning about law and careers in the law. The ELHS team competes each year in the Georgia High School Mock Trial Competition, which is a project of the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia. Student team members play the roles of attorneys and witnesses in a court case. Local professional attorneys serve as team coaches and during the competition rounds, teams are evaluated on their ability to make a logical, cohesive and persuasive presentation, rather than on the legal merits of the case.Adding to the authenticity of the competition, Henry County teams will compete in courtrooms at the Henry County Judicial complex in McDonough during the regional level of competition each year. Regional champion and regional runner-up teams will advance to the District Level of competition in late February. District Champion teams from all over Georgia will gather at the Gwinnett County Justice Center in Lawrenceville in March to compete for the state title. The State Champion team will advance to the , which is held in various cities throughout the United States in May.ELHS students interested in joining the mock trial team should contact Mr. Brandon ParhamQuestions may also be emailed to Mr. Parham at firstname.lastname@example.org.
