This year we will continue to deepen our knowledge of technology as we apply the engineering design process and build our projects. We will also add a new emphasis on video production and editing as we put our recently awarded $30,000 video equipment grant to good use.
In the 6th grade we will be investigating the different forces that are applied to the successful drop of a parachute. It will be our goal to safely drop an egg from 3 meters using the student designs for both a parachute and an egg-drop vehicle. While we are designing and testing our parachutes we will be learning and applying the design process throughout the 9 week course.
In 7th grade our focus will be on the forces associated with flight. We will design and test fly gliders and rubber band propelled air planes. While we are designing and testing our aircraft we will be learning and applying the design process throughout the 18 week course.
In the 8th grade we will look at unconventional flight. We will design, build and test both tetrahedral kites and hot-air balloons. We will be exploring the various forces that effect a successful hot-air balloon as we launch our creations. While we are designing and testing our kites and hot-air balloons we will be learning and applying the design process throughout the 18 week course.Visit our class website for more information. http://esenetworks.com/profile.aspx?id=12167
