    Welcome Message
It will be an awesome and exciting year!  "Science is the reason we know more."  I look forward to working with my scholars this year and desire to open their eyes to the wonderful world of science.
I am currently in my 13th year of teaching as a certified science teacher of grades 6 - 8 and currently am the Science Department Chair.  This academic year, I teach Earth Science and 6th Grade Social Studies and may be reached through my Henry County email address above. I received my masters degree in Post Secondary Education from Troy University and hold a Gifted Instruction Endorsement.  As a teacher of Austin Road Middle School, I adopt the following mission, vision, and beliefs:

Austin Road Middle School strives to develop a nurturing school community that encourages academic success for each student through a rigorous curriculum and extracurricular opportunities supported by dedicated teachers and staff.

Austin Road Middle School will cultivate an environment for creativity, innovation and leadership where we exceed expectations every day.

Each student will become a contributing citizen of our community and global environment.

    Our Earth
In 6th grade Earth Science we will dig into astronomy, meteorology, geology, and oceanography.  We will learn how humans impact the earth and develop scientific skills that will assist in future investigations.

In 6th grade Social Studies we will study aspects of world geography. Students will gain an understanding of the modern cultural and physical landscape of Europe, Latin America, Canada, and Australia.  Students will compare and assess the human environment interaction of these regions by examining the distribution, pollution and use of natural resources in the areas.  Students will explore factors influencing the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services in each region through trade and world influences. Finally, students will examine historical events in the regions to determine how governments, nations, economies and culture were formed during periods of conflict and change.
