Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Diane Barron
This is my 9th year in Henry County, but I am a veteran teacher with 30 years of experience. I previously taught for 2 years in Bulloch County, Georgia, and for 20 years in Palm Beach County, Florida. The majority of my career has been spent teaching students with Special Needs, but I am also fully certified and highly qualified to teach at the Elementary School level, and have some certifications at the Middle School level.
I have a background in working with students in many Special Education areas, and have literally worked with all ages from 5-20 year olds. My experience encompasses working with the mildly intellectually impaired, moderate/severe autism, varying exceptionalities, and emotional and severe emotional impairments. I have taught in general education at the elementary level, in alternative schools at the middle school level, and have prior experience working in a CoTeaching model.
I am originally from Campbell Hall, NY, a town that is usually considered too small to put on a map! When I was growing up there, I used to joke that the census included the cows to boost our population:-)
I have a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY-Geneseo, in Geneseo, NY, where I completed a dual major in Elementary Education and Special Education. My minors were in English and Psychology. I also completed some graduate work in the area of Behavior Disorders at Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
I enjoy teaching very much, and consider my role as a student advocate to be the most critical part of my job description. Please feel free to reach me at: (770)471-0844 from 7:30-3:30, or at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you need to conference with me, please call the school and leave a message so I can get back to you; I will try to respond by the end of the day, but will definitely get back to you within 24 hours. Thank you!
