New Hours for Academy for Advanced Studies for 2023-2024

For the 2023-2024 school year, the Academy for Advanced Studies (AAS) ­will have new operating hours of 7:45 a.m.-12:50 p.m.

AAS students are currently missing valuable instructional time at both their home high school and the Academy as a result of transportation challenges coupled with schedule coordination issues. As a result, we are making modifications to the AAS schedule that will protect instructional time and limit disruptions in the students’ academic day.

AAS will open its doors at 7 a.m. and begin first period at 7:45 a.m. This will allow students to attend three 90-minute classes without losing valuable instructional time at AAS. Afternoon transportation will remain available to return students to their home high school on time for afternoon classes. We want students and their families to know as they prepare to register for the 2023-2024 school year that this modified schedule is designed to improve the effectiveness of AAS course programming, improve coordination with high schools and increase work-based learning opportunities.

Online registration is currently open for students in Grades 10-12. If morning transportation is a concern and you need to participate in the transportation request process, contact AAS CEO/Principal Dr. Douglas Blackwell at douglas.blackwell@henry.k12.ga.us.
