My name is Maria Moore, AKA Car Duty DJ/ Dancer, and I am honored to serve as your Mental Health and Wellness Facilitator. Although this is my second year in Henry County, it is my 22nd year as an educator. My career in education began in 1998. I worked with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder as a Discrete Trial Therapist. In 2000, I entered the field of education full-time. I earned my certificate in interrelated special education. I taught elementary school for 3 years, and middle school students for 3 years. I received my B.A. in Psychology from Georgia State University. I later earned both an M.Ed. in School Counseling and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership. Some of my former roles include: Section 504 Coordinator, LEA Representative, SACS Committee Chairperson, Student Support Team Coordinator, PBIS Coach, District Mindset Instructor, District Program Coordinator for Devereux Student Strengths Assessment (DESSA) and Georgia Family Connections Conference Presenter. Prior to this position, I worked as a Professional School Counselor for 14 years. Follow me on Twitter @selfiecare4life.
