Keeping your kids safe online is one of the most important and most challenging aspects of parenting today. It can be overwhelming, especially if you are not tech-savvy! I encourage you to be diligent in protecting your children online. There are so many dangers surrounding streaming platforms, social media apps, web browsers, gaming apps/sites, and so much more. Predators are actively looking for vulnerable children to exploit. Check out this short video for the top 5 internet safety tips you NEED to know about to help keep your kids safe! There are also some GREAT apps listed below that you can download on your child's devices to filter out dangerous apps, websites and more. 
It is paramount that we as the adults in our children's lives protect them from the very real dangers that exist online. I encourage you to be actively involved in your child's life by monitoring and limiting their online activity. There are parental controls that you can activate on your child's device and there are apps that can filter and monitor your child's online activity. Here are a few that you can consider:
Microsoft Family

Create a safe space for your kids to explore online. Set parental controls to filter inappropriate apps and games and set browsing to kid-friendly websites on Microsoft Edge. This is able to be installed on your child's computer, as well.

Google Family Link

Family Link's easy to use tools allow you to understand how your child is spending time on their device, see their device location, manage privacy settings, and more.

Bark is a paid service that monitors texts, email, YouTube, and 30+ apps and social media platforms for signs of issues like cyberbullying, sexual content, online predators, depression, suicidal ideation, threats of violence, and more.

Screen Time for iPhones

If your child has an iPhone, you can easily control their access to different apps and the ability to use their device during certain times each day by activating the Screen Time controls. For instructions on how to set these limits for your child, CLICK HERE.
Streaming Platforms

Don't forget to set parental controls on the streaming platforms your family uses. CLICK HERE for instructions on how to set these up! If you don't find your streaming platform listed, I encourage you to do your own research on how to set parental controls for these other platforms.
