    Ola Elementary Principal

    Dear Ola Elementary Families,

It is with great enthusiasm and pride that I serve as the principal of Ola Elementary. I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to lead in a school with a reputation of excellence, and I feel fortunate to be a part of such a dedicated team of educators, parents, and students who are committed to high academic expectations.

I have served students as both a teacher and an administrator since I first began my career as an educator in 2003. Before being appointed principal of OES in 2019, I effectively supported three school communities as an assistant principal: Austin Road Elementary, Unity Grove Elementary, and Ola Elementary. As a teacher, I facilitated professional learning experiences at a district and state level through my involvement as a Teacher on Assignment for project-based learning (PBL), a project manager for school transformation, and as a writer and editor for the Georgia Department of Education. My extensive knowledge of curriculum and consistent practice of utilizing research-based instructional strategies have resulted in recognition by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement, Georgia Public Broadcasting, and President Barack Obama and the White House Office of Science and Technology as a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching Finalist in 2016. These awards confirmed for me the positive impact of collegial relationships and supportive leadership on excellence in education.

My primary goals as principal of Ola Elementary are to provide leadership that will facilitate a solid home-school partnership and provide the dedicated stakeholders in the OES community with the coaching, tools, and guidance needed to ensure excellence for our students. I truly believe that public education is a collaborative effort among educators, students, parents, and community members. Guided by our core values, we will honor diversity and work together to empower each student to become lifelong learners prepared to be an active and resilient citizen who will lead a healthy and productive life. We can ensure excellence in teaching and boundless opportunities for learning by developing and retaining highly effective educators who provide high-quality education in a safe environment. We will continuously examine and adapt our curriculum and services to meet the needs of all students, the future of our global society.

I look forward to getting to know you and your family at OES throughout the year! There are always students and teachers in need of ideas, resources, a helping hand, a mentor, or a lunch buddy, so please be sure to find out how you can help when you stop by the school. In addition, please feel welcome to contact me with any praises, concerns, questions, or ideas via email at acavin@henry.k12.ga.us or by phone at 770) 957-5777.

    Sincerely,

    Amanda Cavin
