My name is Mrs. Reed and I am very excited to have your child in my classroom and to be part of the Wesley Lakes Elementary School team. I know this school year is off to a different start than you pictured. However, I know that working as a team with you and your family we can help your child succeed.

    Parent/ Teacher Communication

I will be working with Ms Cosby this school year to encourage a love of learning for your child. We are reachable by email and I have a Google Phone number. I also will be using ClassDojo. This is a way that we can communicate and share images of your child's work. This will also be used to monitor your child's behavior where they can earn points for positive behavior and earn rewards. I also will have office hours Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-2:30 if you have any questions or concerns. I am reachable at wimberly.turner@henry.k12.ga.us and at (678)408-2215. Ms Cosby is available at sheng.cosby@henry.k12.ga.us

    My Beliefs about Education

I believe that all students are talented, unique, and able to learn. Students learn at different paces and in different ways so it is important to find the students' strengths and appeal to that to help them succeed. I also believe that letting students interact with what they are learning helps build stronger thinkers and learners. I enjoy integrating things such as art, music, crafts, skits, and books into learning. I believe that a strong parent/teacher communication helps students learn because it builds bridges and helps them make connections. I also believe that building students' self confidence and love of learning helps them become stronger learners and thinkers. I also have a deep love of reading which I try to pass along by celebrating and motivating my students' love of reading.

    Classroom Rules and Expectations

I expect my students to demonstrate behaviors online and face-to-face that help them and the class grow in a positive manner. This includes being respectful and mindful of our teachers, supplies, classmates, and learning opportunities. I expect students to work hard and not give up. I want my students to feel comfortable asking for help and having questions, and have other students being respectful of their classmates asking for help. My students should not say they "can't" do something or that they "are giving up". My students should use their listening body to help them learn and grow. We will be using ClassDojo to earn points for positive behavior that will help them earn rewards in the treasure box.

Let's Dig into This School Year,

    Mrs. Reed
