Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to Spanish at Dutchtown Middle School! My name is Mrs. Falls, and I am very excited to have the privilege of teaching your child this year. In spite of our current pandemic, I am confident that the 20-21 school year will be AMAZING! In 6th and 7th grade Connections Spanish, scholars can expect to be introduced to basic aspects of the target language and culture. Eighth grade scholars placed in Honors Spanish, can expect to expand and deepen knowledge on previously learned concepts, with the intentionally preparing scholars for higher level courses. My personal goal is to replace fear of foreign language and culture, with fascination. And also, to encourage the development of global citizens, who not only embrace, but enjoy differences. Professionally, my commitment as an educator is to provide your students with a nurturing, accountable and challenging educational environment that will prepare them for higher level foreign language courses.
Foreign language acquisition is a matter of practice! A new way of doing anything is always a challenge. PROGRESS IS PERFECTION in foreign language. And progress only occurs with practice! As school wide and classroom expectations have been set, please continually encourage your child to do their part in contributing to and maintaining order. Frequently remind students that existing rules and policies have been created to ensure their safety and academic success, not to frustrate or control them.
As we work in partnership, I am convinced that your child will reach their full potential, and that they will accomplish the goals they have set for this class.
