Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Lila Brown

Greetings EXCEL Academy Stakeholders,

It is an honor to serve as your Principal for the 2020-2021 school year. Prior to coming to EXCEL Academy, I served as the Coordinator of a K-5 special education program in Dekalb County and Assistant Principal of Campbell Elementary in Fulton County.

I have supported special education in the elementary setting as Lead Teacher and taught at the middle school level for Language Arts and Social Studies. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations from Valdosta State University and special education certification from the University of Georgia. I completed by Master and Specialist degrees in Educational Administration from Capella University.

I am excited to see what opportunities this school year will bring for our students as we transition to Remote Learning. Our focus will continue to be on providing effective instruction with caring adults bridging academic and social-emotional goals for our students.

We will continue to provide opportunities for our students such as Transition Academy and After School Tutorial to assist our students to be prepared for College and Career Readiness.

In addition, we will continue to promote and focus on the healthy development of our students through Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).

If you need to come to our school for a computer or other items for your student, please contact the school at 770-957-4101 for an appointment.

I look forward to working with and for you this school year as we continue to Cultivate, Grow, and Harvest at EXCEL Academy.

Educationally yours,

Lila K. Brown, Ed.S.
