Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Gwendolyn Gray and I look forward to teaching your child this year. Our year will be full of learning, fun, and growth. It is my joy to have the opportunity to love, educate and enlighten your child through a positive classroom engagement. I received my undergraduate degree from Savannah State University in Mass Communications and minoring in English. Currently, I am furthering my education by obtaining an MBA in elementary childhood education from Mercer University. This is my first year as a lead teacher in the Henry County School System. My past experience in the classroom includes a year as a paraprofessional, as well as two years as a lead teacher of a private school. I will utilize prior knowledge from my experiences to build a safe learning space for my students.
My vision is to keep your child encouraged and excited to learn every day in our class. The goal for this year is to have fun as we enhance academic growth and creativity. I am excited to meet you and your child, as we begin our journey into completing the school year. I encourage every parent to ask questions about weekly lessons, and classroom assignments. I am here to work closely with you to ensure a warm learning environment for your students.
A few things I enjoy doing is coming up with fun and creative things to do in the classroom. I love music and catchy sayings; I will use these tools in the classroom to encourage students that learning can be exciting. My favorite technique to inspire academic growth in students is reading and introducing vocabulary terms. Children love learning new things therefore implementing new words they can use throughout the day keeps them focused and motivated in using what they have learned. These new words give them more tools to communicate their feelings as well as ideas.
