Welcome to my Spanish 1 and Honors Spanish 3 classes! I am delighted to have the opportunity to be working with you this year. I love teaching Spanish 1 and Honors 3! I look forward to a great year with each of you! We will work hard together to start you on your learning of a foreign language. Be prepared to learn MUCHO! I have high expectations of you and we will have a positive year together!
I began teaching in my country Puerto Rico, as an elementary teacher in August 1985. I moved to Georgia in 1991. My husband and I have 3 children, one daughter and two sons. My daughter has a bachelor’s degree in a Health Care Management. My older son works for an insurance company and studies part time. My youngest son is in his Senior Year at Union Grove High School. We love animals! We have a cat named Sally and a dog named Mambo. When I am not teaching Spanish, I enjoy going to Church, going on Missions trips to other Countries, cooking, listening to music and spending time with my family.
TEACHING SPANISH
I am a versatile educator; I have had the opportunity to instruct a wide variety of students from various backgrounds and all facets of society. As a result, I am a compassionate teacher, who remains sensitive to student’s unique needs, employs effective listening, provides individual and whole group support, integrates multicultural teaching units, and offers positive encouragement and reinforcement to keep students focused and motivated.
Throughout my 23 years as a Spanish teacher, in both elementary and high school in Georgia, I have incorporated a variety of resources to accommodate the diverse learning styles of learners. I have developed Spanish curriculums for a wide range of grade levels, including elementary through high school. Through this process, I have been able to implement rigorous instructional activities such as individual, small group, and whole group project based learning, including the integration of Spanish literature, phonics, and the use of technology to ensure that each student is able to comprehend and retain the concepts and language. My goal is to foster and maintain an open, honest, communicative, and supportive classroom, in which each student feels safe, secure, special, and appropriately challenged.
. I look forward to getting to know all about each of you as we spend this year together.
