Greetings parents and students!
I am an Alabama native, born and raised in Birmingham. I attended Auburn University and earned my Bachelor's degree in English. Upon graduation, I moved to the greater McDonough area to be closer to my fiancee and to begin my first teaching job. I worked for two years in Clayton County at Babb Middle School. I took a short break from teaching, and during that time my husband and I lived in Machester, England for two years working with local youth.
Once we returned to the states, we settled back down in McDonough. I accepted a position at Community Christian School and taught there in various capacities for over ten years. During my time at CCS, I earned my Master's degree in Teaching English at Clayton State University and began teaching English classes for Truett-McConnell University. I came to Henry County in 2018 and have loved all of my students, making me look forward to each new class I have the privilege to teach.
My husband, Josh, and I have been married since 2005. We had the joy of having two international students, Charlie and Leo, live with us for three years. They are both graduated and in college now. We also have three dogs: Watson, Sokka, and Tonks. They keep us busy and make us smile.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, painting, playing video games, and spending time outside.
My educational philosophy can be summed up by Ignacio Estrada: "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way he/she learns."
I look forward to a wonderful semester with your students. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns.
Mrs. Shannon Edwards
