Welcome WES Students and Parents!
    Teacher Name: Mrs. Denise Gladden
    School Email Address: karen.gladden@henry.k12.ga.us
Subjects I Teach: all 3rd grade subjects
My name is Denise Gladden, and I have been teaching for 16+ years. My  husband and I have been married 17 years, and we have four daughters. My hobbies include reading (every single day), traveling to see new places (we've been to 48 U.S. states and 9 different countries so far), and hanging out at the beach. I was born and raised as a South Georgia farm girl so I know what it's like to live in both rural and suburban areas.
I've wanted to be a teacher ever since I was three years old because I have always enjoyed teaching people new things. However, I am most passionate about students learning how to read, write, and solve real-world math problems. I believe students need to master all three of these content area skills in order to be successful citizens in today's world.
During my teaching career, I have taught children from pre-k through 8th grade in various educational settings, but in Georgia public schools I have taught, 5th grade, kindergarten, and EIP. I'm always excited to take on a new challenge with teaching so this is my first year as a third grade teacher. Students are so full of joy as they learn and explore the world around them! Everyday they become more independent learners and thinkers! I'm glad I am a part of their learning journey.
I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. I obtained a masters degree in Reading Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. Also, I received a specialist degree in Leadership: Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. I am certified to teach all content areas for grades pre-k through 8.
I look forward to working with you as I teach your child this academic. A partnership between home and school is the number one most important thing to ensure your child is successful socially, emotionally, and academically this year. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
