    August 2020

    Dear Ola Community:

It is with great pleasure I welcome you to the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year at Ola High School, the greatest high school in Henry County! Ola is a very special place and I am looking forward to another spectacular year as we prepare our students for life beyond high school. We are certainly living in an unprecedented time as we begin this school year in a remote setting. I can assure you we want to welcome and high-five our over 1,700 Mustangs onto the campus and into our classrooms as soon as possible. Please understand we take very seriously our responsibility to the physical and emotional safety of our students, staff, and families. I ask that you remain patient as we work through this school year.

Ola High School continues to be highly regarded in Georgia based on student performance on state assessments, opportunities for students to participate in athletics and other extra-curricular or co-curricular organizations, and school climate. For the most recent year for which data is available, Ola High’s graduation rate of over 94% beat both the state and district averages. Our teachers, counselors, support staff, and administrators are focused on ensuring all students have equal access to a wide variety of courses, and we continue to focus on providing effective, engaging, and meaningful instruction for each student whether virtually or in-person.

We value the vital role parents and extended families play in the education of their students, and high school is not a time to completely back away from supporting your child’s educational journey. Remain connected with your student’s teachers and counselors. It is critically important we
have the most current contact information for your student. If you have not activated your Parent Portal to connect with our school, an additional document is provided to create your account. All parents/guardians will have the ability to update contact information through the parent account. Students and parents will be able to access the Student Handbook and other Henry County School documents through their portal account.

As we begin the year, I invite you to visit our school’s website, https://schoolwires.henry.k12.ga.us/oh, and our social media sites - Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We will provide ongoing updates to families through these sites and through the Parent Portal. A Virtual Open House is planned for August 13 and you will be able to access this useful site by visiting our school’s website. You will have an opportunity to connect with teachers, administrators, and other staff. Please review additional information on our website regarding information about beginning the new year in a remote setting.

I look forward to our best year ever and am hopeful we will be able to return to our campus soon. Families, thank you for all you have done and will continue to do to support your Mustang and the ambitious work of Ola High School.

    We are Ola!
