Cruising for Success - Our Personalized Learning Model
It's All About Student Agency!
"You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage
to lose sight of the shore." - Christopher Columbus
The following model is what personalized learning will look like at TES in 2019! Currently, we are piloting these practices in 58% of our classrooms. We will increase each year until 100% of our model is implemented.
During one part of the day, students will be working on math and literacy competencies while "cruising the classroom." This will be accomplished through a blended learning station rotation and the use of personalized playlists (itineraries). Students will be looking at data to set their own goals and decide how they want to achieve them. These goals, as well as work samples, will be housed in the Learner Profile. Teachers will use platform and other academic data to form small, flexible groups.
During another part of the day, students will be learning 21st century skills using science and social studies competencies through ongoing, authentic learning and STEM activities.
We believe that students will be more engaged when they are responsible for how and what they learn. We want to offer students voice and choice and teach them the 21st century skills that they will need for a successful future!
