Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to what looks to be another exciting school year here at MCE! I wanted to take a moment and share a little about me both professionally and personally.
My name is Dianne Baus and I will be your child’s Remote Learning teacher this year. I began my teaching career with Henry County Schools in 2009, after receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education/Special Education from Mercer University. I have been at Mount Carmel since 2016. I taught fourth grade my first year and then I was moved to third grade in 2017. In 2018, I remained in third grade and that is where my journey began with some of you. In 2019, I was given the opportunity to loop to fourth grade. For the 20-21 school year, I will be looping to fifth grade. I obtained my gifted certification in 2019 and will be completing my math endorsement in October of this year. Upon completion of my math endorsement, it is my plans to immediately begin my reading endorsement. It’s very important for my students to see that I, like them, am a forever learner.
I have been married to Craig for 32 years. Craig has recently retired from Delta Airlines and I am anxiously looking forward to where this new chapter will lead us. We have three sons; Philip, Paul, and Peter and two daughter in laws Peyton and Ally. Our youngest son, Peter is beginning his first year as a sixth grade classroom teacher at Locust Grove Middle School. We have two dogs, Frank a pug and Roxy a fox terrier. I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and getting away to Orange Beach as often as possible.
I love teaching and love Mount Carmel Elementary. The main reason is because I get to share my day with your child and with Ms. Rose. Ms. Rose will be responsible for Math and Science instruction and I will be responsible for ELA and Social Studies instruction. Ms. Rose and I are passionate about our belief that all children should have equal opportunities to grow and learn. We take pride in creating a classroom learning environment that is safe and supportive and fosters learning and growth. We are passionate about knowing and understanding our students as learners and will work fervently this year to guide them to take personal ownership of their own learning.
Regardless, if this will be my first, second, or third year as your child's teacher, to say that I am excited would be an understatement. Take a minute to view my welcome back video here.
