DeAndra Johnson

Hello Students, Parents, and Staff! My name is DeAndra Johnson, and I have the pleasure of Teaching 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Science at Excel Academy. I am honored and elated to have made the concious decision to spend my first year as an educator in an enviroment that grants me the opportunity to empower and enrich the education and lives of Excel Students. I am a first year teacher and excited to teach our Middle School Students, and I'm sure they will teach me a thing or two as well. I am originally from Greensboro, Georgia, where I graduated from Greene County High School in 2008. I then attended college at Fort Valley State University, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2014. I love studying the Sciences, as well as sharing that passion with my students. Shortly after graduating college I spent time working with troubled and at-risk youth in the Department of Juvenile Justice. It was there that I gained invaluable experience working with troubled and at-risk youth. I joined the Excel Team this year out of a personal necessity to help students who may have gotten a little bit off track, and introduce them to new life and learning perspectives.I try to give my students relevance as they study Science as well as improve the way that they think creatively and critically.  Working with our youth, who are ultimately our future leaders of the world, is a great passion of mine and gives me great pleasure. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!
