Mrs. D. Marie Lewis, Ed.S.

Dear Families,

I would like to welcome you and your family to Room 421! My name is Marie Lewis and I am the Social Learning Self-Contained teacher for grades K-3.  I received my Bachelor's, Master's, and Education Specialist degrees at Mercer University. I have been married for 20 years, and we have two beautiful children; Ariah is a Georgia Southern Eagle and Daniel is a sophmore at Dutchtown High School! It is awesome that we are all a part of the Dutchtown family! Also, apart of our Team is Mrs. Meggett. She has been for 15 years and they have three beatiful children. Tugari attends high school, Amira is in middle school, and Masai is here at DES.

I am entering my 11th year of teaching and I am excited to be working with all of the staff and families of DES to provide a learning environment that promotes success and academic achievement for each student. Through collaboration and open communication, our goal is to provide students with the tools and opportunities needed to reach their full potential.

Mrs. Meggett and I will be working collaboratively to provide the instruction needed to ensure that our students succeed in the classroom, at home, and in the community. This includes academic success, as well as social success. We believe that parent, school, and community interaction each have a significant role in your child’s educational growth. Your help, time, and patience is needed and appreciated to make this year great.  We are better together.

We will be using Class Dojo as our classroom communication. Any announcements, up-coming events, pictures, and helpful links will be uploaded on our class story. If information needs to be given to you specifically about your child, you will receive an email or phone call. Your child's binder (important papers and notes), phone calls or email are all great communication tools for us to use between school and home. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to contact us. Again, welcome to Room 421! We thank you in advance for your support. Let's have a great year!!!!!

Sincerely,

D. Marie Lewis, Ed.S.
