I, Charlene Rutland-Newton, am a teacher of twelve years. This twelfth year is my first year at Dutchtown High School, and my fourth year in Henry County. Prior to teaching, I pursued the allied health profession. The profession taught me that educating individuals is crucial for effective patient participation. This educational process involved the patients and their families. After 5 years of mastering educating patients and their families, I was called to teach secondary education. The philosophy that I used in allied health continued with me in the education field. I believe that we must educate students and their parents. The more knowledgeable we are, the more apt we will be in ensuring our educational success.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Paine College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. There, I also played four years of basketball, two years of softball, and ran cross-country for a year. I, then, received my Master and Doctorate of Science in Physical Therapy. As an educator, I have a broad field science certification. I currently teach physical science and environmental science.
