We are excited for another AMAZING year in the gifted program at East Lake Elementary! This year East Lake will serve the gifted students through Gifted Exploratory. Gifted students are placed in homerooms that are taught by gifted certified teachers. This allows the students to receive gifted instruction in multiple settings. In these homerooms, instruction will be based on the current Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) grade level curriculum.
Gifted identified students will also attend Gifted Exploratory daily . During the Exploratory time (approximately fifty minutes), we will provide services to develop critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. The Exploratory period will involve a variety of projects, research, and hands-on activities aimed at deepening student knowledge and guiding them to solve real-world, authentic problems. Our units for this year are Inventions, World Geography, and Mysteries. It is the overall goal of the gifted program to provide greater rigor in the instruction provided for the gifted students.
This year we will be working with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade gifted students. We look forward to working with the students and parents.
