Community based instruction and social skills are incorporated to prepare students for success and some independence.Teachtown Curriculum: Teachtown includes academic and social skills activities. This curriculum incorporates reading, math, writing, science and social studies.Community Based Instruction: CBI trips are once a month. The schedule and permission forms will be sent home in the folder. CBI trips are not field trips. Students will go out into the community with their teacher and paraprofessional. They will work on goals per their IEP.In the classroom, we work on these community goals to include appropriate behavior and greetings. Students learn to identify and locate items in class and community, using picture cards.In addition to our Teachtown curriculum and Community Instruction, we work on recreation/leisure skills to include following directions and taking turns. Recreation/leisure time includes computer, music, sensory and social skills goals.Grades: IEP progress reports will be sent home each grading period. Students are graded according to participation, effort, and accuracy.
