• SS8H1 The student will evaluate the development of Native American cultures and the impact of European exploration and settlement on the Native American cultures in Georgia.

    a. Describe the evolution of Native American cultures (Paleo, Archaic, Woodland, and Mississippian) prior to European contact.

    b. Evaluate the impact of European contact on Native American cultures; include Spanish missions along the barrier islands, and the explorations of Hernando DeSoto.

    c. Explain reasons for European exploration and settlement of North America, with emphasis on the interests of the French, Spanish, and British in the southeastern area.

    To successfully complete this section, learners will complete ONE of the following three options below.  Learners must score an 80% or higher to advance to the next unit. 
    1. Usatestprep.com - complete H1 assignments and H1 test.  
    2. Direct Instruction - PPT presentation completed during class time with assignments and a test. 
    3. Individual / Group Project - Complete all three sections either by youself or with a partner (no more than 4 in a group).  The project counts as a test score.  See attached requirements for the projec:  Project Assignment and Rubrics
