Young Maestros were started in the 2015- 2016 school year. It is a group of 50 students composed of 4th and 5th grade students.
I am a firm believer that singing teaches many life skills. It ignites all areas of child development: intellectual, social and emotional skill. It will teach fine motor skills, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and mind to work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meaning of words. Singing with a group of other students, such as a choir, teaches cooperation, sharing, compromise, creativity, and concentration skills that become invaluable as they face new challenges, enter the world, and begin to form relationships with friends, coworkers, and leaders.
