• A charter school is a public school that operates under the terms of a charter (a contract), with an authorizer, such as the state and local boards of education.  Charter schools receive flexibility from certain state and local regulations in exchange for a high degree of accountability for raising student achievement.  Charter schools are held accountable by their authorizer(s) for upholding the terms of their charter.

The following schools currently operate under a charter approved by the Henry County Board of Education and the Georgia State Board of Education:
    • Academy for Advanced Studies
    • Hampton Elementary Charter School
