Mr. Turley

My Education:

In 2008, I received my Bachelor of Science in Technology Education (Engineering and Technology Education) from the University of Central Missouri, located in Warrensburg. Later in 2009, I also received my Master of Science in Technology Education from the University of Central Missouri.

My Background:

After graduating high school from Smithton, Missouri, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where I served on the island of Guam for two years and then on the USS Hector (AR-7), stationed in Oakland, CA for the remainder of my enlistment. After that, I joined the U.S. Coast Guard, and got stationed in places like Lamoure, ND, Governor's Island, NY and San Diego, CA. Later, I served on the Cutter Midgett. I got to visit places like Kodiak, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Columbia, and the Panama Canal. While on the ship I worked on shipboard electronics equipment. After I met Linda, I requested assignment to an East Coast Cutter, and was assigned to the Cutter Bear, where I got to visit Key West, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. I was later transferred to the Command and Control Engineering Center in Portsmouth, VA where I worked on lighthouses. It was an adventure getting to visit historic lighthouses up and down the East Coast and around the Great Lakes!

After ten years and five children later, I retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and we moved to Clinton, Missouri, where I would drive 30 miles to college. After graduation I worked part-time until accepting a teaching position at Lovejoy High School in Clayton, County in 2010. The next year I taught at Whitewater High School in Fayetteville. While at Fayetteville, I was introduced to First Robotics and enjoyed spending many hours after school volunteering with the robotics team. I stared working in Henry County in 2012. In 2014 I started working at Union Grove High School, which is where I was until I started teaching here at Locust Grove High School in the middle of the 2015-2016 school year. I am enjoying getting to know the students and staff at LGHS.
