A Message from Supt. Davis Regarding School Safety

    Henry County Schools Community Members,

I wanted to send a brief message this evening in light of the senseless and heartbreaking event that unfolded yesterday at a high school in south Florida. While the thought of such a devastating tragedy is weighing heavily on our hearts and minds today, I want to assure you that we see your child’s safety, along with the security of our 42,000 students and 5,000 employees, as our greatest responsibility.

It takes a team effort from many individuals and entities to keep our schools safe. We are diligent when it comes to reviewing our safety measures, and we routinely practice and plan for events we hope never impact our schools. Local law enforcement and county and state emergency management officials provide the strongest of allies to assist school officials. We will remain diligent in reviewing, and continuing to always improve, our safety measures and associated processes as we work together to keep our children safe every day.

Our thoughts are with those impacted by Wednesday’s tragic incident, and our condolences go out to those mourning the loss of loved ones.

    Respectfully,

    Mary Elizabeth Davis

    Superintendent

    Henry County Schools
