Teacher: Mrs.Oxendine

    Fairview Elementary School

    Room #412

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to a new school year!  My name is Mrs. Kelly Oxendine.  I will be your child’s kindergarten teacher.  Your child is going to embark on an exciting learning adventure filled with rich experiences, multiple achievements, and everlasting friendships.  I am looking forward to a productive year working with you and your child.

I am committed to the importance of parent involvement in a student’s education.  I feel that a close relationship between parents and teachers is imperative for your child’s progress.  I need your support, and I need you to let your child know that you support classroom expectations and standards.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to call the school office at 770-474-8265, communicate in their daily agenda or email me at Kelly.oxendine@henry.k12.ga.us. Please give me at least 24 hours to respond.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication,

    Mrs. Oxendine

My goal is to create an environment that is stimulating and safe for the child.  This includes assisting children in making appropriate behavioral choices.  To make this year positive and rewarding, it is necessary that good discipline be maintained.  In attempt to provide such discipline, I will ask all students and parents to review classroom expectations:

    Classroom Expectations

    Raise your hand when needed.

    Listen while others are speaking.

Be ready on the count of 10.

Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

    Be responsible.

    Be respectful.

Whenever a student chooses to “consistently” break a rule, he/she will automatically receive the following consequences:

    (Behavior Management Card system)

    -      GREEN All students start here.

    -      YELLOW  Student received two warnings

    -      ORANGE Student will receive a time out or lose “free time”

    -      RED Students takes a note home or receives a phone call.

For great behavior there will be rewards!!!!

    Daily Folders

Your child will be responsible for their daily folder. This one-inch binder (folder) is to be returned everyday.  Please make sure to initial the behavior calendar everyday so that I know that you have seen the folder for that day.  This same folder will contain daily homework, daily behavior, parent letters and reading logs.  These papers must be kept in the folder.   It is very important for the lines of communication to stay open between us so that students can have a successful year.

Parents, please make sure that if you send in lunch money, ice cream money or any other money in a Ziploc bag or envelope in their daily folder.  Please send a note that tells what the money is for and the amount.  Student lunches are $2.40. Breakfast is $1.15.  Milk is $0.30.

    Ice Cream

The cost of ice cream is 1.oo - $1.50 and is only purchased on Friday’s.  This money is separate from lunch money and can not be paid for out of lunch account.  Ice cream will not be purchased for the month of August.

We try to have snack every day.  If you would like your child to have snack, please feel free to send one with them daily.  If there are any parents who would like to donate snacks to the class, feel free to send them in.  We have 18 students in the class.  Any snacks that you can donate would be appreciated. (ex. Goldfish, crackers, cookies, snack cakes, chips or popcorn)

Birthdays: Parents are allowed to bring in treats to celebrate. You can only distribute them during their lunch to our students only.

Please bring an extra pair of clothing for your kindergartener in a labeled storage size zip-lock bag in case of an accident.  Accidents happen!

Please feel free to contact me whenever you need anything or if you have any questions or concerns at kelly.oxendine@henry.k12.ga.us
