Agendas will be passed out to each student.  We ask for a $2 donation to help with the cost of the agenda planner.  Please understand that agendas are very important, and should go home and back to school on a daily basis.  They are used as a main line of communication between the teacher and parents.  Your child’s daily behavior, as well as other important information will be notated in the agenda.

Any transportation changes must be done so in writing.  Emails, phone calls, or faxes will not be accepted.  If there is a transportation change, please send in a note with the student’s name, parent’s name, a contact phone number, and how you wish the child to be transported home.

    Absences and Make-up Work

When your child returns to school after an absence, you must send a note to school.  Please make sure the note includes the child’s name, date of absence, reason for absence, and parent/guardian signature.  Your child is responsible for making up any missed work.  Please have your child complete, and return as soon as possible.

Homework is important.  It reinforces the information being taught in the classroom, and it helps develop responsible work habits in students.  Please make sure your child is completing their homework.

    Reading Logs:

In addition to homework, your child will be expected to do nightly reading.  Reading logs will go home Monday, and should be returned Friday.  Reading can consist of a child being read to by a parent, a child reading along with a parent, or a child reading independently.  Your child should write a brief response to what they read.  They might write about something from the book they found interesting, or funny, or they might write about how they felt about what they read.  Please indicate this information on the reading log, and sign and return the log.

    Weekly Graded Papers:

Graded papers will be sent home every Monday in your child’s communication folder.  Please take some time to look over the graded papers, and review areas of need with your child.  Low grades might indicate an area of need, and should be reviewed to help reinforce the concept.  Please review all papers, sign the page in the front pocket, and return papers to school.

Communication between home and school is very important.  Please do not hesitate to call or email me at any time if you have questions or concerns.   I try to return all phone calls, emails, and notes within 24 hours.  Feel free to schedule a conference to discuss any progress, problems, or concerns that may arise.
