My name is Christine Thompson and I am the art teacher at Luella Middle School. I have a Bachelors degree in Art Education from Berea College. I have been teaching art for 25 years, 24 of them in Henry County Schools. I taught 15 years in the elementary schools in Henry County before moving up with my youngest child to teach middle school. This is my ninth year at LMS and I am VERY excited to be teaching here!

A little information about me... I am married to a wonderful man, Steve, who also has a background in art. We have four great children; one adult, and three in college! I am an artist and teacher so I make art personally whenever I can. My passion in art is fibers and textures. I love to travel and have been blessed to go to many countries on three continents around the world. I have a passion for art and love to share that with my students. If your student comes home and says their art teacher is a little crazy it is because I LOVE teaching art to students and am willing to look a little crazy to get that point across to them.

In the art room the goal is life long learning in the arts while learning skill and creating artworks we would be proud of displaying. We continue to use Graduation Competencies and the Georgia Standards for Excellence for our grading which incorporates 21st century learning and our GA Performing standards. Our standards for art can be found on the GeorgiaStandards.org site. We will spend time in class exploring art and artists, techniques and building skills, and creating artworks for personal and community display.  Students will have multiple opportunities to create and display their artwork in school and in the community. Look for information on this webpage, through iC messages, the weekly update, and also from your student about those possibilities.

As always, I am eager to help my students have positive and successful experiences in the art room. Periodically I will send home printed student summary updates about student progress, but you can access your students grades on Infinite Campus through the parent portal if you have questions or are interested.

If you have any questions or would like to meet with me please email me at Christine.Thompson@henry.k12.ga.us . I look forward to a great year!
