Students in Grades 9-12 will have an opportunity to recover those credits in the Summer Learning Credit Recovery program for select courses.
Which courses are offered during Summer Learning Recovery?*
- Math: Algebra I, AMDM, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus
- ELA: 9th Grade Literature, World Literature, American Literature, British Literature
- Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, Environmental Science, Forensic Science (Anatomy and Physiology for Grade Repair Only)
- Social Studies: American Government, Economics, US History, World Geography, World History
- World Languages: Spanish I, Spanish II
- Physical Education: Health (Credit Recovery only)
*Some schools may offer more opportunities depending on their site-based grade repair and credit recovery options. Schools will communicate their summer learning options and mechanisms around April 28th, 2023.
The HCS District Summer Learning Credit Recovery Program will be facilitated virtually through a digital platform by a HCS teacher, and will begin on June 6th, 2023. Summer Learning deadline for registration is June 23rd, and students should complete all credit recovery options by July 13th, 2023.
Upon completion, evaluation, and mastery of the coursework your child’s grade from the summer learning recovery or school year opportunities will be updated to reflect credits recovered on his/her transcript. When successful, your child’s grade will be updated to a 70 instead of the failing grade.

ORIENTATION: In order for your child to participate in the HCS Summer Learning Credit Recovery Program orientation is required. Orientation dates are June 1st, 5th, and 6th, additional details will be provided after registration. Use the registration link above to select an orientation date and time.
COURSES NOT OFFERED DURING SUMMER LEARNING RECOVERY
If a course is not available in the Summer Learning Recovery Program, students will have an opportunity for learning recovery during the fall of the 2023-2024 school year.
Your child’s school will provide students with learning recovery opportunities through one or more of the following methods: extended school day (e.g. before and/or after school sessions), Saturday school, instructional focus during the school day, and/or Fall Break intersession. He/she will have access to this learning recovery option until April 2023.
These opportunities will afford your student the opportunity to recover learning in order to earn the credit necessary to be on track for graduation. Upon completion, evaluation, and mastery of the coursework your child’s grade from this opportunity will be updated to reflect credits recovered on his/her transcript. When successful, your child’s grade will be updated to a 70 instead of a failing grade
