Makenzie McDaniel - District 2
Mr. Makenzie McDaniel was born and raised in DeKalb County. He is a 2003 graduate of Chamblee High School. Upon graduating from high school, Mr. McDaniel honorably served 12 years in the Army Reserve achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his time in the Armed Forces, Mr. McDaniel deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. While serving in the military, Mr. McDaniel served as DeKalb County police officer for 8 years achieving the rank of Master Police Officer. He is an ordained elder in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and is currently pastoring at the Trinity CME Church, Gainesville, GA.
Mr. McDaniel's impetus in running for the Board of Education is to increase community engagement and commitment, to be a voice for those who feel silenced, increase accountability and transparency. In that, the number one reason for seeking this esteemed office is, "TO PUT OUR STUDENTS FIRST".
Mr. McDaniel is the proud and humble husband of 14 years to Mrs. Tameika McDaniel. Together they have four children, two attend Luella Middle School and one at Luella Elementary. He has earned a Bachelor of Science in Management and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Phoenix.
