• STATED SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING, UNION GROVE HIGH SCHOOL

    October 28, 2020 @ 7:30 a.m. held at Union Grove High School, 120 East Lake Road, McDonough, Georgia 30252

     

    PRESENT: Kristie Collier, Kristen Garner, Misti Marral, Ryan Meeks, Traci Pourron, Holly Veal

                   

    ABSENT: Jennifer Dunn

     

    INSPIRATION:  Dr. Meeks is inspired by our teachers who are have adapted to a new way of teaching and are working diligently to ensure the success of our students.

     

    APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  no quorum at time of vote

     

    VISITORS PRESENT: 

                    *Cheryl Reddick, UGHS School Counselor

                                    *The Union Grove High School Counseling Department works to provide a comprehensive, progressive counseling program focused on the academic, career, and personal/social development of all our students to ensure that all students are college/career ready and equipped to become productive citizens in the 21st century.

                                    *Three Goals of the Counseling Office

                                                    *Goal 1: During the 2020-21 school year, UGHS counselors will help maintain the 96% graduation rate by regularly conferencing with off track students to develop and implement a plan to get them back on track by May 2021 for seniors and by July 2021 for 9th – 11th graders.

                                                    *Goal 2: During the 2020-21 school year, UGHS counselors will attend 90% of IEP meetings to provide best course 

    recommendations and contribute to placement and goals recommendations to improve the percentage of co--taught students scoring Proficient on EOCs from 28% to 34% and of small-group students scoring Developing on EOCs from 19.32% to 22%.

                                                    *Goal 3: During the 2020-21 school year, UGHS counselors will increase communication about scholarship opportunities to increase the total scholarship amount by 1% from $4, 335, 000 to $4, 378, 350.         

     

    REPORT OF PRINCIPAL:

                    *ACT – 22.4 average.  This score is above the district, state and national levels

                    *Homecoming – no dance or pep rally, but will have a parade
