STATED SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING, UNION GROVE HIGH SCHOOL
September 30, 2020 @ 7:30 a.m. held at Union Grove High School, 120 East Lake Road, McDonough, Georgia 30252
PRESENT: Kristie Collier, Jennifer Dunn, Kristen Garner, Misti Marral, Ryan Meeks, Traci Pourron
ABSENT: Holly Veal
INSPIRATION: Dr. Meeks is inspired by our teachers who are have adapted to a new way of teaching and are working diligently to ensure the success of our students.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: 1st: Dunn, 2nd: Garner Vote: 6-0
VISITORS PRESENT:

* SAT test scores gain of 31 points (1099)
*Number of AP tests given up by 28 (454)
*Number of students who passed increased
*20-21 school year
*Grateful for extended pre-planning
*remote learning challenging – student engagement/masks
*resources – camera/headsets
*Wednesdays – Independent Day for remediation/acceleration/small group/tutoring, etc.
*Mandated Assessment decreased – EOC from 8 to 4
*Dual Enrolled & AP students WILL test
REPORT OF PRINCIPAL:
*Return to School
*One way Hallway-Signs/markers
*Two way Hallways – traffic cones
*more cleaning protocols – spray & wipes provided to teachers
*staggered seating charts
*face masks – Down Zones are @ lunch/gym & outside PE/self-contained Special Education classes
*Protocol for sick students
*2 room clinic – meds/sick room
*Office – by appointments only/no lunches dropped off
*Dismissal – 3 bells – buses @ 3:15, car riders @ 3:16, extra curriculars
*Rest Rooms – teachers monitor (only 4 students at a time)
*Cafeteria – stickers on seats where students can/can’t sit
*Schedule – back to 7 period days
*Lockers – not issued this season/athletes still have athletic lockers
*Picture Day – Dr. Meeks will look into how this will work and push out information
*Homecoming – no dance or pep rally, but will have a parade
